Student Voice & Agency

At Lilydale Heights College, we aim to empower every student to be an active, confident, and engaged learner whose voice shapes their education and school community. We envision a culture where student voice and agency are embedded in all aspects of learning building students’ motivation, engagement and resilience.

Student Voice and Agency

At Lilydale Heights College we know how powerful education can be when students are active participants in their own learning. When students feel that their voices matter and they have ownership over their learning they are more motivated, engaged and resilient, as well as supporting a positive school culture. We are currently working towards improving Student Voice and Agency across the college – from a whole school perspective and at the classroom level.

Student Voice is about creating meaningful opportunities for students to share their perspectives, ideas and feedback on all aspects of school life. Student Agency is about equipping students with the skills and confidence to take ownership of their learning through goal setting, making choices and understanding how to identify the next steps in their learning journey.

Our Commitment

  • Providing regular opportunities for students to share feedback and contribute to school decision making.
  • Providing students with the skills needed to take a greater responsibility for their learning and progress, primarily through the use of Learning Pathways.
  • Embedding Student Voice and Agency into teaching practice, curriculum planning and whole school initiatives.
