Outdoor Education / Duke of Ed.

The Compass Award runs from Years 7 and upwards through the years till year 11. We have Levels 3, 4, 5 and 6; each with increasing numbers of hours to achieve the outcomes.

The Duke of Edinburgh award runs from Year 9 through to and including Year 12 with the Bronze, Silver and the Optimal Gold Awards.

These awards are structured youth development programs which encourage the development of the whole child, promoting positive self-development, initiative and wellbeing and strengthening student engagement both at school and within their community. Both award programs encourage our students to uncover their purpose, passion and place in the world to become #WORLDREADY!

At Lilydale Heights College both of our award programs run alongside each other. To achieve each award level, our students select and create their own program of activities and goals and work towards them over a set length of time. These work across the four sections of the program

  • Skills Section: To develop their talents, broaden their talents in areas of interest.
  • Physical Health: Activities to improve physical fitness and health activities for good mental and physical wellbeing.
  • Voluntary Service / Citizenship: To make a positive contribution in our community and build a range of social skills.
  • Adventurous Journey: To work as a team to complete a day / overnight exploration in an unfamiliar environment.

Participating in any of the award programs offers a great experience and opportunity to build confidence and have fun!
