Lilydale Heights College instrumental music program offers an opportunity for individuals to explore who they are and aims to grow a students’ ability to express themselves in a positive way, while working together with their peers. No previous musical experience is required, our music program is accessible to all levels. This is achieved through our weekly 30 minute lessons, 7&8 music enrichment class, lunchtime rock groups, VCE units 1, 2, 3, & 4 and our after-school ensembles; concert bands, jazz band and choral group. We prepare students to have choices to follow further studies and to be involved with community music groups after secondary school.
Our highly experienced, specialist teaching staff share their knowledge and passion on the following instruments: trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, oboe, flute, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, bass guitar, percussion, and voice. With the exception of percussion and guitar, all instruments are available for hire from the school. We are the only school in the Lilydale network to offer a two year music enrichment concert band program, in years 7 & 8. This is designed to make the most of the cognitive and social growth that learning an instrument can achieve, according to multiple international studies.
