Lilydale Heights College takes great pride in its expansive sports program, providing students with opportunities to engage at local, regional, and state levels. Notably, we are the sole school in the Lilydale Network to offer a specialised Sports subject for all Year 7 and 8 students, ensuring inclusivity for everyone.
In preparation for competitions, students participating in College sporting teams benefit from dedicated training classes led by our expert Physical Education and Sport staff. Promoting health and wellbeing through active participation, our College stands out by offering a comprehensive Sport Education Program alongside dedicated Physical Education classes. Our student-centred approach focuses on maximising participation and skill development.
From Year 7 to 8, students have the opportunity to explore a variety of sports throughout the year in which they choose one sport to focus on per term. Dedicated training classes once a week are provided which assist in selection for interschool teams. Regardless of skill level, all students are encouraged to participate and compete in interschool competitions, gaining exposure to a range of skills. This targeted approach has yielded remarkable success in sports like table tennis, baseball, cricket, volleyball, basketball, hockey and badminton, to name a few.
Beyond these year levels, we maintain a high participation rate in interschool sports, allowing students to represent the College in their chosen disciplines. These teams are thoughtfully organised to accommodate participants of all skill levels, resulting in many achievements. Additionally, every student has the opportunity to participate in our whole school sporting events including Swimming, Cross-Country, and Athletics. Our comprehensive sports program at Lilydale Heights College not only builds fundamental skills but also cultivates important life skills such as resilience, decision-making, responsibility and the promotion of health and wellbeing.
