Music Enrichment Class
We offer a specialized Music Enrichment Class for Year 7 and Year 8 students, where every student learns to play a musical instrument. In this class, students collaborate as an ensemble, participating in weekly rehearsals, a rehearsal camp, and various performances and festivals.
The ensemble follows a typical concert band setting, encompassing Brass, Woodwind, and limited positions for percussion and Bass Guitar.
Research indicates that involvement in a music ensemble can yield numerous benefits, including:
- Improved academic results
- Increased confidence and self-esteem
- Enhanced social development
- Development of instrumental music skills

Lilydale Heights College has a tradition of excellence in music. Our College consistently wins shields at the Melbourne School Bands Festival. In recent years our bands have won gold shields at the Melbourne School Bands Festival and a gold shield at the Brisbane School Bands Festival.
Music Tours
Each year our senior music ensembles take part in a regional, national or international music tour. Recent national and international tours have included:
- 2017 New Zealand (Rhapsody Rotorua Music Festival, Bronze Shield)
- 2016 Geelong Schools Performance Tour
- 2015 Gold Coast (Quota Music Eisteddfodd; First Place)
- 2014 Regional Victoria (Geelong and Ballarat, Southstreet Festival of Bands)
- 2013 New Zealand (Rhapsody Rotorua Music Festival, Silver Shield)
- 2012 Regional Victoria (Southstreet Festival of Bands)
- 2011 Sydney (Manly Jazz Festival)
- 2010 Ballarat (Southstreet Festival of Bands)
In addition to this the Intermediate Band and Music Enrichment Bands take part in an intensive three day Rehearsal Camp each year in July.
