Silver and Gold Duke Of Ed Exploration to the Peninsula

Mar 15, 2023

by Clare Rayner

Our first group of students ventured out this month for their Award exploration; a four day self-sufficient exploration is a requirement. The students are expected to navigate around a route, take responsibility to camp and cook all of their meals and make decisions/solve problems as they might arise. Our group completed a 56km hike over the four days; they trekked all the way from Arthur’s Seat along the Two Bays Walk to Cape Schanck and then along the Coastal Trail all the way to the furthest point on the Peninsular at Point Nepean.

Our congratulations go to all students. It was a pleasure to take this small group away for their Silver and Gold explorations. The students certainly achieved their goals of working together, making effective decisions and being self-sufficient for their exploration. They were extremely responsible and respectful of each other, supporting each other in challenging moments. Students managed their packs, tents and the cooking of their meals. I wish them luck as they gradually work through the remainder of the Award sections and ready themselves for any final explorations for their Award level.

Well done Duke of Ed students!!!
