During Term 4, students have been building on their Auslan skills by exchanging information in Auslan, including cooking instructions. During Week 4, we put these skills to use in the kitchen where students instructed their partners on how to make pizza, using only Auslan. The students were greatly up for the challenge and worked hard to repair any communication breakdowns without using their voices! It’s also great practice for our excursion to Victorian College for the Deaf, where they will visit the Tradeblock Café and order their lunches in Auslan, allowing them to converse with deaf students who will be working in the café on the day.
