Great Challenge

8C had the mammoth task of learning to play and record 'Hooroosh!' during the 2020 Covid19 Lockdown. 'Hooroosh!' is a piece usually played by American Middle School Bands, usually with 50-70 players, and with at least a few years of playing under their belts.

Given the level of 8Cs playing ability at the end of Year 7, I thought that we would give it a crack. 8C would learn a song which was perceived to be far above their playing level and way too hard to learn, record it in their own homes with their own recording software and mobile devices, and send it through to me to where it was mixed in my home studio.

8C, their instrumental teachers and I had never done anything like this, however, once you have a listen to it I'm sure you'll agree that it was a great success.

Despite some tough circumstances during the Coronavirus pandemic, music has given 8C students a purpose to get out of bed and keep rockin' and rollin'!
