Enrolment and Transition

The move from primary to secondary school is a major milestone for your child. The procedure for enrolment at Lilydale Heights has been streamlined to make the experience as easy and transparent as possible.

Year 7 for 2024

Welcome to the College

We would like to welcome all students, parents and families to Lilydale Heights College. This is the start of the collaborative partnership as the school and families work together to ensure each child receives the very best education.

The information in the downloads section covers everything that parents of future Year 7 students will need and includes information about devices, uniform, accessing Compass, the canteen and parental payments.

Join a College Tour

We understand that finding the right school for your children is a very important decision your family will make. At Lilydale Heights we organise a range of open events, information sessions and tours for prospective students and their families to get a first-hand idea of everything we have to offer. Tours can be booked by calling the College office on 03 9735 1133

Compare and Choose

We recommend you visit a few schools before making your choice to enrol. Take notes, ask questions and get a feel for the school environment during a normal working day. Make an informed decision.

Transition Events

Major Events and Activities

  • Parent Information Sessions and welcome BBQ for new students and their families
  • Teacher visits to primary schools
  • Pre-orientation Day for students enrolling from schools where they are the only enrolment
  • Orientation Day - a full day's activities for all incoming Year 7 students
  • Year 7 introductory program to commence the year in place of regular classes
  • Peer Support Leaders who visit each Year 7 Class for the first semester of the year during SELF
  • Year 7 Camp to Phillip Island with a visit from Peer Support Leaders

Year 7 Enrolment (Gov)

Application from a Government School

Parents/carers of students attending a Government primary school will receive the Year 6 – 7 Transition Information Pack from their primary school at the beginning of Term 2.

All families must complete the Application for Year 7 Placement form and submit it to their primary school as specified within the statewide timeline. Primary schools will submit all initial placement requests directly to secondary schools.

Please note, students transitioning from a Government primary school must enrol through their primary school and are not permitted to enrol directly with their preferred Government secondary school.

If you would like your child to attend Lilydale Heights College, it is important to list us as your first preference.

Year 7 Enrolment (Non-Gov)

Application from a Non-Government School

Families of Year 6 students at non-government schools wanting to enrol at a Victorian government school may approach secondary schools directly if their child’s primary school is not supporting the statewide placement process. Non-government families must use the Application for Year 7 Placement available in the parent/carer information pack.

Families from non-government schools will need to complete the Application for Year 7 Placement form and email it directly to [email protected]

Please note, this form is only available for students transferring from a non-government school.

If you would like your child to attend Lilydale Heights College, it is important to list us as your first preference.

Year 8-12 Enrolment

If you are interested in enrolling at Lilydale Heights College, please complete the Application Form and send to [email protected] If you require a paper form, please contact the school office on 9735 1133.

An enrolment form will be provided when placement is offered.

Our school follows the Department of Education’s Enrolment Policy for the enrolment, placement, and transfer of students.

Students who live within the school zone are guaranteed a place at our school. To find out whether you live in zone, visit www.findmyschool.vic.gov.au

All other applications will be considered subject to available space, and prioritised according to:

  1. students with a sibling at the same permanent address who are attending the school at the same time
  2. all other students in order of closeness of their home to the school.

Please note that proof of permanent residence is required as part of your application. For more information, please refer to 100-Point Address Checklist (pdf)

Every home is a university and the parents are the teachers.
